Steve Greeley
- Title:
- Men's Ice Hockey Associate Head Coach
Former Boston University men's ice hockey player Steve Greeley returned to the program to serve as the associate head coach on head coach David Quinn's staff in 2013 and has quickly become one the top recruiters in college hockey.
Greeley's efforts on the recruiting trail have resulted in several commitments from high-profile student-athletes from across the country and Canada.
A Scituate, Mass., native, Greeley came back to BU after spending seven years as a scout for the Los Angeles Kings. He started his career with Los Angeles in 2006 as an NCAA scout before being elevated to a pro scout in 2009. Over the next four seasons, he focused on evaluating NHL and AHL players for all trades and free agent acquisitions. His work was instrumental in helping the Kings claim their first-ever Stanley Cup title in 2012. From 2009-12, Greeley also served as a regional scout for the U.S. National Team Development Program.
As a player for Jack Parker from 2000-04, Greeley played in 77 games for the Terriers and, as a senior in 2004, he was the recipient of the team's Bennett McInnis Award for Spirit, given annually to the player who best exemplifies the character and spirit of the BU hockey program. He played professionally in the East Coast Hockey League during the 2004-05 season before beginning his coaching career as an assistant at Thayer Academy, where he was a standout forward and team captain as a senior.
He was also an on-ice coach for the Massachusetts Hockey satellite program and coached during tryouts for USA National Festivals in 2006 and 2007.
Greeley earned his bachelor's degree in sociology from BU in 2004. He resides in Milton with his wife, Lauren, and their two daughters, Reilly and Sloane.
