January 30, 2026 | Men's Ice Hockey
BOSTON - Junior Jack Harvey scored his ninth goal of the season, but the Boston University men's ice hockey team fell to No. 13/14 Boston College, 4-1, on Friday night at a sold-out Agganis Arena.
Harvey's power-play strike just 37 seconds into the third period cut the BC (14-8-1, 10-5-0 HE) lead to just 3-1, but BU (12-13-1, 8-10-0 HE) was unable to get any closer and the Eagles added a late empty-netter to seal the victory.
Freshman Ben Merrill and sophomore Cole Eiserman assisted on Harvey's goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU fed off the building's energy early in the first period and outshot the Eagles, 4-1, in the first three minutes before Andre Gasseau gave BC a 1-0 lead.
- Freshman Jack Murtagh had two bids on a 2-on-1, but both his initial attempt and his follow-up were denied by Louka Cloutier (33 saves)
- Freshman Charlie Trethewey sprang sophomore Sacha Boisvert with a great outlet pass less than a minute into the second stanza, but Cloutier once again came up with the necessary stop.
- BC added two goals in the second to take a 3-0 lead, but James Hagens was whistled for unsportsmanlike at the final whistle of the frame, so BU started the third period with a power play.
- Harvey made the Eagles pay just 37 seconds into the ensuing man advantage. Merrill found him in transition with a nice feed, and Harvey's knuckleball popped over Cloutier and into the back of the net.
- BU killed two consecutive penalties and got a power-play chance of its own early in the third but the Terriers were unable to convert and the Eagles maintained their two-goal edge.
- After the Terriers were forced to kill a penalty with 4:15 remaining in regulation, BC added an empty-netter with 1:13 to play.
- Sophomore Mikhail Yegorov made 17 saves.
- BU went 5-for-5 on the penalty kill and 1-for-5 on the power play.
- The Terriers combined for 20 blocked shots, with Trethewey, junior captain Gavin McCarthy, junior Aiden Celebrini and junior Mick Frechette totaling three blocks apiece.
- The 73rd annual Dunkin' Men's Beanpot will begin on Monday night, with the Terriers opening their title defense against Northeastern in the late game.
- Puck drop at TD Garden is scheduled for 8 p.m.
