HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Huskies earned the first power play of the game and took advantage of it, opening the scoring at 9:20 of the first on a one-timer from the left circle.
- BU was unable to capitalize on a power-play chance later in the first.
- The Terriers generate two opportunities off rushes late in the first but they resulted in a wide shot and then a pair of strong saves by NU netminder Lawton Zacher.
- Down 1-0 entering the second, BU drew even just under two minutes into the frame when freshman Charlie Tretheway backhanded a pass from the left circle to Morello at the top of the crease.
- The 1-1 score lasted only two minutes as the Huskies regained the lead at 4:55 on a shot off a rush from Jacob Mathieu.
- The back-and-forth second continued as the Terriers created the second deadlock with 12:16 left in the period when Roukounakis buried a bid from the left side off a feed from Hutson.
- Soon after BU's second tally, the Huskies generated a breakaway chance, but the shot sailed wide and Yegorov handled a second chance to keep it 2-2.
- The Terriers nearly took the lead moments later but could not get a stick on a loose puck in the crease that got behind Zacher.
- BU more than doubled the Huskies in shots during the third (15-7) but were unable to break the 2-2 tie.
- In overtime, BU appeared to get a winner from freshman Ryder Ritchie but an interference call negated it, giving the Huskies a power-play chance with 33.6 seconds left.
- The Terrier penalty kill was up to late task and the game went to a shootout.
- After Yegorov denied the first Husky attempt, Harvey converted to give BU a 1-0 lead.
- NU countered in the second, getting a conversion and then a stop to make it 1-1 entering the third round.
- Yegorov denied a try from Mathieu to set up Hutson's opportunity.
- The blue liner snuck the puck under Zacher to end the game and ignite a BU celebration.
- BU outshot NU, 38-26, as Zacher turned in a 36-save effort for the Huskies.
- The Terriers held a 35-26 advantage at the faceoff dot with freshman Tynan Lawrence winning 13 of his 21 draws.
- Sophomore Sascha Boumedienne picked up an assist on the Morello goal.
- NU blocked 22 shots on the night while the Terriers turned aside nine.
- Roukounakis has notched one goal and three assists for four points in three Beanpot appearances.
- Hutson now has six points (3g, 3a) in his three Beanpot tilts.
- The Terriers will return to action on Friday (Feb. 6) when they host Maine.
- Game time at Agganis Arena is set for 7 p.m.
