Senior Tina McDavitt leads the way with five point day
BOSTON, MA -- Senior co-captain Tina McDavitt (Walpole, MA) scored a career-high five points (2 goals, 1 assist) as the 13th ranked Boston University Terriers downed visiting Providence, 5-0, at Nickerson Field.
Senior forward Danielle DeCoste (Fall River, MA) opened the scoring at 33:47 when she connected on her team-leading 10th go goal of the season from junior Robyn Kenney (Whitehouse Station, NJ).
Sophomore Rachael Stillings (Escondido, CA) made it 2-0 with her goal from McDavitt and senior Jessica Alcorta (Demarest, NJ) at 23:46.
One minute and thirteen seconds later, McDavitt notched her first goal of the afternoon at 22:33.
McDavitt's second score of the day at 6:32 from senior Jaclyn Mele (Fairfield, NJ) and Alcorta, was her first multi-goal of the season and seventh of her career.
Sophomore Kerry Carney (Yorktown Heights, NY), who did not score a goal in her previous 27 collegiate games, connected on her second in as many days making the final 5-0.
The Terriers improved to 14-2, while Providence falls to 5-10 this season. Providence goalie Andrea Weyl (Ridgefield, NJ) had 0 saves in 17:45 and Heather Tattersall (Bethlehem, NH) had 6 saves in 52:15, while B.U. goalie, senior Noreen Flanagan (Red Bank, NJ) stopped 3 Friar shots in 60:59 and sophomore Donna Wilkinson (Marlton, NJ) recorded 2 saves in 9:01.
The Terriers outshot the Friars, 12-6, and held the advantage in penalty corner situations, 9-3.
B.U. improves to 12-8 all-time versus Providence.
B.U. is back in on field on Saturday, October 23 when they travel to cross-town rival Northeastern for an important America East conference game. The winner of the game will have home field advantage for the America East playoffs beginning Friday, November 5.
GAME NOTES: B.U. has won its last 10 home games dating back to last season... With 14 wins this season, the Terriers' have eclipsed last year's total of 12 and is the most since 1996 when the team won 17... The Terrier have reached 14 wins faster than any previous B.U. team.
