Minutewomen Defeat Terriers In Overtime

STORRS, CT (Nov. 13) - Tamra Geryk scored just 1:39 into the overtime period as the University of Massachusetts defeated Boston University, 2-1, in the first round of the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Tournament.
Both teams scored one goal each in regulation for the 1-1 tie.
Lindsay Abbott scored at 5:22 in the first half for UMass. BU came back in the final seconds of the first half with a corner goal from Tina McDavitt.
With the victory, UMass improves to 15-8 overall and advances to face No. 2 seed Connecticut (22-0) at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 14th at the George J. Sherman Family-Sports Complex.
