BOSTON, MA (June 7) - Junior attacker Chrissy Lombard (Ellicott City, MD) and sophomore midfielder Kristin Abruzzese (Medford, NJ), who helped lead the Boston University women's lacrosse team to a 15-4 record en route to its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, have both named Division I Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Second Team All-Americans. It is the first such honor for both players.

Lombard, a two-time America East Player of the Year who became B.U.'s all-time leading scorer this season, led the Terriers with team-highs in goals (44), assists (23), and points (67). Lombard will enter the 2001 season with 133 goals and 56 assists for 189 points. She needs 31 goals to breaks Chris Fleming's ('84) record of 163 goals, and 11 assists to break Jen Manning's ('00) record of 66 assists.
"Chrissy had an outstanding year, especially considering her many injuries including a severe back injury that caused her to wear a brace," said head coach Sue Murphy. "She is a tough competitor and was a tremendous leader for us this season. I am thrilled to see her reach her goals this season and ecstatic that she will return next year."
Abruzzese recorded 35 goals and 9 assists for 44 points. Her goal total was second on the team, and her point total was third. Abruzzese was B.U.'s top scorer at the end of the season as she registered 15 goals and 4 assists for 19 points in the Terriers' last four games.

"Kristin was only a sophomore, but she assumed a big role for us this season," said Murphy. "With her athleticism, I was able to ask her to run both ends and expect her to produce, too. She is an outstanding young player with a bright future."
The Terriers, under Murphy's guidance, set a team record for most wins in a season (15), went undefeated in America East play (6-0), and won their first America East Championship. Ranked in the top-10 most of the season, B.U. advanced to the NCAA Tournament where it lost to Virginia, 13-10 on May 12th.
