Schedule Set For America East Championship

BOSTON - The dates and times for the 2001 America East Field Hockey Championship were announced today by the America East conference. Boston University is assured a spot in the tournament for the 12th straight year. Northeastern, the top seed, will be the host school.
The semifinals will be held on Friday, Nov. 2, at Sweeney Field on Huntington Avenue in Boston. The first semifinal will be played at 3 p.m., with the second semifinal getting underway at approximately 5:30 p.m.
The championship game will be played on Sunday, Nov. 4, at Sweeney Field and will start at 2 p.m. There will be no consolation game.
Northeastern has secured the top seed. With a victory over New Hampshire in its final conference game, B. U. will claim the second seed. If B. U. wins, then Maine and Delaware will battle for the third and fourth seeds.
In their final conference games of the season, Delaware hosts Drexel and Maine travels to New Hampshire on Saturday, Oct. 27. Both teams are 5-3 in conference. Delaware holds the tiebreaker advantage, having defeated Maine, 4-1, on Sept. 21.
If B. U. loses to UNH, then the Terriers may fall to the fourth seed if both Maine and Delaware win. B. U. can finished third with a loss, combined with a Maine victory and a Delaware loss.
The Terriers (7-8, 6-2) wrap up their conference schedule when it hosts New Hampshire on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Harvard's Jordan Field. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
