Field Hockey Season Continues With ECAC Championship Selection

BOSTON - The ECAC Division I Field Hockey Selection Committee announced the field of four teams that will compete for the ECAC Championship. Boston University, which earned the second seed, will play third-seeded Drexel University in New Haven, Conn. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m.

The Championship will be hosted by Yale University, which is the fourth seed. The Bulldogs will play top-seeded Dartmouth College in the other semifinal game.
The Terriers were 1-1 against the three teams in the Championship. Dartmouth defeated B. U., 3-2, on Sept. 24, while the Terriers downed Yale, 1-0, on Oct. 5.
Dartmouth (11-6) finished third in the Ivy League with a 5-2 conference record. Drexel (10-8) was fifth in the Colonial Athletic Conference with a 2-5 league mark. Yale (10-7) was tied for fourth in the Ivy League with a 3-4 record.
B. U., which finished the 2002 regular season with an 11-9 overall record, is making its third ECAC Championship appearance, having won the title in 1987. The Terriers defeated Lock Haven, 1-0, in double overtime to claim their first championship. The program also participated in the ECACs in 1984, dropping a 1-0 decision to Canisius on penalty strokes.
The championship game will be held on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m.
