Women's Tennis Sweeps Singles Matches, Beat Syracuse, 6-1

BOSTON - The Boston University women's tennis team swept its singles matches against Syracuse, picking up a 6-1 win over the Orangewomen on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 16) at Sportsman's Tennis Club in Dorchester.
Senior Christina Causway (Wilson, NC) defeated SU's Masha Kabanova, 6-1, 6-1. Sophomore Lindsey Dynof (Colts, Neck, NJ) won in three sets over Daniela Kalushova. Sophomore Elena deMendoza (Madrid, Spain) won a first-set tiebreaker and took her match against Shervin Saedinia. Freshman Silvia Gugliemi (Rome, Italy) won her match in straight sets, as did junior Alana Marcu (Leonia, NJ) and sophomore Hannah Bartell (Rancho Santa Fe, CA).
Syracuse took two of the doubles matches, as the team of Kabanova and Saedina defeated Causeway and Dynof, 8-2. The Syracuse duo of Holte and Jessica Schlosser downed deMendoza and Gugliemi, 8-4. The Terriers' doubles pair of Marcu and Bartell was an 8-6 winner over Kalushova and Alexa Konstand.
The Terriers travel to Harrisonburg, VA, to face James Madison University on Monday, March 4.
