The Terriers continued their travels on Saturday (March 16th) when they journeyed to Columbus, OH. Unfortunately, they had a tough battle against a highly regarded Ohio State team and came away with a 7-0 loss.
After losing all three doubles matches, the closest margin being at second doubles where Lindsay Dynof (Colts Neck, NJ) and Elena de Mendoza (Madrid, Spain) dropped an 8-4 decision, the Terriers went on to try and make something happen in singles play.
Unfortunately, the Terriers went on to drop the six singles matches. Senior captain Christina Causway (Wilson, NC), playing at the number one position, had a tough match against Ohio State's Monica Rincon, losing 6-0,6-1, while Dynof (Colts Neck, NJ) also lost her match.
Similar results followed the Terriers from numbers three through six singles. deMendoza, playing at the third position, lost her match 6-1, 6-2. At fourth singles, freshman Silvia Guglielmi (Rome, Italy) dropped her match in straight sets by a score of 6-2, 6-3.
The Terriers put up a good fight at the five and six spots. Junior Alana Marcu (Leonia, NJ) lost her first set 6-3. However, she battled hard in the second set and lost in a tough fought tiebreaker, 7-6. Sophomore Elisa Glas (Irun, Spain), at the six position, was able to take the second set from her opponent 6-3, after dropping the first set 6-1. The third set was decided by a 10-point tiebreaker that Glas was unable to pull off, dropping it 10-5.
