Three Terrier Seniors Selected as Regional All-Americans

BOSTON - Senior midfielder Ericka Hergenroeder (Annapolis, MD) and senior defender Gabby Juocys (Rochester, MI) were named to the 2002 IWLCA/US Lacrosse North Region All-American First Team as announced Tuesday (May 14) following the vote of the Region All-American Committee. In addition, senior attacker Kristin Abruzzese (Medford, NJ) was honored as a Second Team selection.
A First Team All-Conference selection, Hergenroeder led the Terriers in goals with 47, the second-highest single-season total in program history. Hergenroeder, who scored two goals in the Terriers' 11-5 win over New Hampshire in the America East title game, led B.U. in draw controls (40) and was second on the team in both scoring (59 points) and caused turnovers (29). The 2002 Team MVP, Hergenroeder is the sixth-leading scorer in Terrier program history, totaling 111 goals and 32 assists for 143 points in 57 games.
Juocys earns Regional All-American First Team recognition for the second consecutive year. The Terriers' top markdown defender, Juocys led the America East and ranked 28th in the nation with 41 caused turnovers in 19 games. Juocys was second on the team in draw controls (28), fourth in ground balls (31) and eighth in scoring (9-2-11). Juocys, who earned America East Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors, is the Terriers' all-time leader in caused turnovers with 102 in her career.
As the Terriers' leading scorer, Abruzzese was named to the Regional All-American Second Team after enjoying her most outstanding season on the attack. Abruzzese ranked second in the league in scoring with 40 goals and 24 assists for 64 points. The 24 assists were the second-highest single-season assist total in program history and ranked 25th in the nation. Abruzzese ends her career as the program's third-leading scorer, compiling 125 goals and 46 assists for 171 points in 72 games. North Region All-American First Team
