Hergenroeder Named to All-American Third Team

BOSTON - Following an outstanding senior campaign, Boston University midfielder Ericka Hergenroeder (Annapolis, MD) was named to the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American Third Team as announced by Kerstin Kimil, Chair of the IWLCA, on Monday afternoon (May 20).
Hergenroeder, who also was selected to the Regional All-American and All-Conference First Teams, becomes the fifth Terrier in program history to be named to a National All-American team. She joins former honorees Chrissy Lombard (Second Team, 2000, 2001, Third Team 1999) and Chris Fleming (Honorable mention, 1984), and classmates Gabby Juocys (Third Team, 2001) and Kristin Abruzzese (Second Team, 2000).
In the most dominant season of her career, Hergenroeder scored a team- and career-high 47 goals and added 12 assists in 2002. In the America East Tournament title game, Hergenroeder scored two goals and had game-highs of five caused turnovers and three draw controls to guide B.U. to an 11-5 win over New Hampshire.
Hergenroeder finished her career as the sixth-leading scorer in Terrier program history, scoring 111 goals and dishing 32 assists, totaling 143 points in 57 games.
Representing the North Team, Hergenroeder was invited to participate in the North/South Senior All-Star Game on June 8th in Baltimore, MD. Joining Hergenroeder are Juocys and goalkeeper Brooke Barrett.
B.U. completed the 2002 season with an 8-11 record whlie capturing its second America East title in three years. The Terriers were among the teams "receiving votes" in the final IWLCA Top 20 coaches poll for the 2002 season.
