Juocys Earns All-America Third Team Honor

BOSTON - Senior defender Gabby Juocys (Rochester, MI), the league's Most Outstanding Player in the 2002 America East Championship, was selected to the Warrior/Inside Lacrosse All-America Third Team.
Earlier this month, Juocys earned IWLCA/US Lacrosse North Region All-American First Team honors along with senior teammates Kristin Abruzzese and Ericka Hergenroeder. It was the second straight year Juocys was named to the First Team.
The Terriers' top markdown defender, Juocys led America East and was 28th in the nation with 41 caused turnovers in 19 games. She was second on the team in draw controls (28), fourth in ground balls (31) and eighth in scoring (9-2-11). Juocys finished her B. U. career as the Terriers' all-time leader in caused turnovers with 102.
She joined Abruzzese, Hergenroeder, and sophomore Kelly Trahon on the America East All-Conference First Team this season. It was the second consecutive First Team selection for Juocys, who was a Second Team honoree during her sophomore season in 2000.
She was named the Warrior/Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week after the Terriers' 11-5 win over New Hampshire in the America East Championship game on May 4.
B.U. completed the 2002 season with an 8-11 record whlie capturing its second America East title in three years. The Terriers were among the teams "receiving votes" in the final IWLCA Top 20 coaches poll for the season.
