Joucys Earns National Honor Following America East Championship Win

BOSTON - Following an outstanding performance leading Boston University to the 2002 America East Women's Lacrosse Championship, senior defender Gabby Juocys (Rochester, MI) has earned Warrior/Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week honorable mention for the week ending May 7.
Juocys, who was named Tournament Most Outstanding Player, led B.U. to an 11-5 win over New Hampshire in the America East title game, scoring two goals and forcing three turnovers. In the Terriers' 19-4 win over Albany in the semifinals, Juocys anchored a stifling defense that limited the Great Danes to just 14 shots on goal.
Starting all 19 games in 2002, Juocys led the conference in caused turnovers with 38, averaging 2.00 per contest.
During her senior season, Juocys became the Terriers' all-time leader in caused turnovers with 102 for her career.
A talented addition to the attack, Juocys contributed 27 goals and eight assists in 72 career games, ranking 12th on the all-time scoring list.
The Terriers completed their season with an 8-11 record.
