Women's Tennis To Hold Reunion

The Terrier women's tennis team, which has enjoyed a storied history since it became a varsity sport in 1976, will hold its first annual reunion during the weekend of April 11-13, 2003.
The reunion is expected to bring back former players who will have an opportunity to see Boston University's new tennis and track facility. The indoor facility, which includes four tennis courts, has been completed and is scheduled for formal dedication October 16th.
The reunion will kick off with a reception on Friday, April 11th. Then, on Saturday, the alumnae will have a chance to watch the Terriers take on archrival Boston College at noon. Later, that evening, there will be a "Through the Years" dinner and slide show along with a silent auction. Then, on Sunday, there will be a round robin and a continental breakfast.
There is an eight-member committee headed by head coach Lesley Sheehan, who has been involved with the Terrier tennis program since she matriculated as a freshman in 1980. During the next four years, she established herself as one of the most outstanding tennis players ever to compete for the Terriers. Ranked number one in New England, number two in the East, and among the top 40 nationally, she compiled an overall mark of 54-16. She qualified for the NCAA tournament twice, was voted recipient of the University's Female Athlete of the Year, and was inducted in the University's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992.
Shortly after graduation, she was named the head coach of the women's program and has guided the Terriers to an overall record of 205-121 for a .629 winning percentage. The last four years, she has coached the Terriers to the America East Conference tournament title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
