Terriers Open Season With 7-0 Blanking Of New Hampshire

The Terrier women's tennis team opened its 2002-03 season on a positive note on Tuesday (September 17th) with a 7-0 shutout of America East Conference rival University of New Hampshire on B.U.'s Case Center courts.
En route to the one-sided win, B.U., which has won the last nine conference titles and 13 in the 14 years, did not lose a set.
The match opened with the Terriers winning all three doubles matches to come away with the single point.
Junior Lindsey Dynof (Colts Neck, NJ) and freshman Zuzana Melicherova (Caracas, Venezuela) won their match at number one doubles, 8-5. Junior Elena deMendoza (Madrid, Spain) and freshman Monica Shepherd (Austin, TX) combined to win their number two doubles by an 8-3 margin. Finally, junior Elisa Glas (Irun, Spain) and junior Hannah Bartell (Rancho Santa Fe, CA) won 8-2 at number three doubles.
The Terriers then went on to sweep all six singles matches.
deMendoza won at number one, 6-1; 6-3. Dynof swept to a 6-2, 6-1 decision at number two. Melicherova lost only one game en route to a 6-0, 6-1 win at number three. Freshman Laura Ahmes (East Sarasota, FL) was a 6-4, 6-2 winner at number four. Freshman Aimee Charest (Somerset) had the easiest match of the day en route to a 6-0, 6-0 win at number five. Finally, senior captain Alana Marcu (Leonia, NJ) won at number six, 6-0, 6-4.
