September 30, 2002 | Field Hockey
BOSTON - Boston University forward Natalie DiSabato (New Albany, Ohio) came off the bench to score the game-winning goal in the Terriers' 3-2 win over No. 23 Ball State on Sunday, Sept. 29. She earned America East Rookie of the Week accolades in the process.
The Terriers, ranked 24th in last week's NFHCA poll, lost to Dartmouth, 3-2, on Sept. 24, before traveling to Ann Arbor, Mich. and dropping a 3-0 decision to No. 2 Michigan on Sept. 28.
DiSabato scored the Terriers' final goal on a 2-on-1 breakaway, along with fellow freshman forward Caitlyn Cassara (North Caldwell, NJ), down the right side of the field 15 minutes into the second half.
With two goals this season, DiSabato leads all Terrier freshmen in scoring. Her four points ranks her fourth on the team in scoring. She has played in each of the Terriers' nine games this season.
DiSabato becomes the second freshman to garner America East Rookie of the Week honors this season. Cassara won the award on Sept. 16.
Boston University (4-5) next travels to New Haven, Conn. to face non-conference foe Yale on Saturday, Oct. 5 in a 1 p.m. game. The Terriers then host Rhode Island on Sunday, Oct. 6. The game, at MIT's Jack Barry Field, begins at 3 p.m.
