Prediger Earns Second America East Rookie Honor

BOSTON - For the second time this season, Boston University redshirt freshman Erin Prediger (Telford, Pa.) was named America East's Rookie of the Week. While the Terriers went 0-3 during the week against a trio of Top 20 teams, the goalkeeper posted a 2.67 goals against average and a .741 save percentage.
The Terriers started the week with a 3-1 loss at No. 11 University of Connecticut on Wednesday, Oct. 22. Prediger made 14 saves in the game, giving up three goals.
Two days later, the Terriers took No. 12 Northeastern University into overtime before falling, 1-0, on Friday, Oct. 24, on a goal 1:21 before the end of the first extra period. In the game, Prediger made four saves in 83:39.
On Sunday, Oct. 26, the Terriers took an early 1-0 lead over No. 8 Princeton, but gave up five unanswered scores to fall, 5-1. Prediger played the first 55:21, making five stops and allowing four of the Tigers' goals.
Prediger has started each game this season and has been the goalkeeper of record in each of Boston University's (8-9, 2-3 America East) 17 games so far. She has a 2.06 goals against average and a .704 save percentage. She also has tallied two shutout victories this year.
Among America East goalkeeping leaders, Prediger ranks third-best in goals allowed per game, giving up 2.29 per contest. She's fifth in saves per game at 5.06.
Boston University has two road games remaining on its regular-season schedule. The Terriers play at No. 15 Harvard on Wednesday, Oct. 29, and at UMBC on Saturday, Nov. 1. The team is in a position to qualify for the America East Championship on Nov. 7-9 and an automatic bid to the NCAA Field Hockey Championship.
