B.U. Drops Vermont, 17-1

Burlington, VT - The Boston University women's lacrosse team earned its program-record ninth consecutive win, defeating America East rival Vermont, 17-1, at Centennial Field on Friday, April 25.
Sophomore midfielder Alyssa Trudel (Shoreham, VT) led all scorers with four goals and four assists as the Terriers improved to 11-4 overall and 4-0 in league play. The Catamounts fall to 3-8 overall and 1-3 in conference games.
Trudel's eight-point effort tied a career-high for the Terriers' leading scorer. Trudel also had eight points against Quinnipiac in the season-opener on March 5th and against Albany on April 12, 2002.
A pair of scores from Trudel and junior midfielder Kylie Wagenet (Ithaca, NY) put the Terriers up, 2-0, three minutes into the game.
Alison Mitchell netted Vermont's only goal of the game at 26:20, scoring off a feed from Sara Talbot.
Trudel and freshman attacker Lindsay Lewis (Glenelg, MD) each scored four goals before the close of the half as B.U. extended its lead to 12-1 at the break.
Lewis finished the game with a career-high seven points off four goals and three assists.
Freshman midfielder Kathryn Dahm (San Francisco, CA) provided a spark off the bench in the second half, netting three of the Terriers' five second-half goals.
Wagenet and freshman attacker Mary Beth Miller (Berlin, NJ) each finished with two goals and one assist, as Miller raised her season total to a team-high 36 goals. B.U. also had single-goal efforts from senior defender Briana Smith (Huntington, NY) and junior attacker Rachel Olanoff (Rutland, VT). Freshman defender Kaitlyn Cuneo (Marlton, NJ) dished out two assists.
Freshman defender Michelle Bussichella (Winchester, MA) accounted for five of the Terriers' 10 caused turnovers and contributed three ground balls.
Sophomore goalkeeper Anne Sheridan (Baltimore, MD) made three saves while allowing just one score for the Terriers. Sheridan and the Terriers have not lost since falling to Yale, 12-8, on March 26.
Vermont's Katie McBride made two saves in the first half, while Megan Farrell played the final 30 minutes and stopped three shots.
B.U. battles New Hampshire for the America East Regular Season title in Durham on Sunday, April 27, at 1:00 p.m.
