Trudel Named Vermont Female Athlete of the Year

Northfield, VT - Sophomore midfielder Alyssa Trudel (Shoreham, VT), who led the Terrier lacrosse team to the 2003 America East title, was selected as the Athlete of the Year by the Vermont Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association on Sunday, June 1.
Trudel and Taylor Coppenwrath, a member of the University of Vermont men's basketball team who was named Vermont Male Athlete of the Year, were honored at the VSSA banquet at Norwich University.
A graduate of Middlebury Union, Trudel led the Terriers (14-5) to their third conference title in four years and a bid to the NCAA Tournament. During her sophomore campaign, the America East Player of the Year set program records in points (86), assists (42), and draw controls (50). Trudel was named to the National All-American Second Team, Regional All-American First Team, and the All-Conference First Team.
Trudel will be one of nine starters and 21 letterwinners who will return for the 2004 season.
