BOSTON - Terrier defenders Meghan Murphy (Annapolis, MD) and Briana Smith (Huntington, NY) along with attacker Caroline Kelleher (Duxbury, MA) were selected to participate in the STX Women's Lacrosse Division I North-South All-Star Game on Saturday, June 7, in Baltimore, MD.
In their final season, the trio guided the Terriers (14-5) to the 2003 America East Championship and the program's second-ever bid to the NCAA Tournament. During the 2003 campaign, the Terriers won a single-season program record 12 consecutive games.
A First Team All-Conference selection in 2003, Murphy appeared in 59 games during her career, totaling 36 caused turnovers. In her senior campaign, Murphy battled a foot injury that kept her sidelined for seven games. She was rewarded with the Coaches Award at the team's annual banquet.
Smith started all but one game her senior season on defense, totaling 21 ground balls, 18 caused turnovers, and 15 draw controls. Along with her markdown responsibilities, Smith also chipped in with six goals and two assists on the attack. Smith earned All-Tournament Team honors at the 2003 America East Tournament, anchoring a defense that allowed just 5.00 goals a game. For her career, Smith appeared in 47 games, totaling 36 caused turnovers, nine goals, and three assists.
Battling back from a knee injury, Kelleher was ranked fifth on the team in scoring as a senior despite playing in just 13-of-19 games. She totaled 20 goals and 11 assists and enjoyed eight multiple-point games. A First Team All-Conference pick in 2003, Kelleher tallied 42 goals and 17 assists in 40 games during her career.
Murphy, Smith, and Kelleher will play with 17 other athletes from the North region to be coached by Cornell's Jenny Graap.
