Prediger Selected As America East Rookie Of The Week
September 15, 2003 | Field Hockey
BOSTON - Boston University redshirt freshman Erin Prediger (Telford, Pa. / Souderton Area) was named America East's Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sept. 14. The goalkeeper finished the week with a 1.47 goals against average.
It is her first-career America East weekly honor.
Playing in just her third collegiate game, Prediger combined with Boston College goalkeeper Jillian Savoy in an impressive display of goalkeeping in a 1-0 loss to the Eagles on Sept. 10. The double-overtime contest lasted 98:08, and ended with an Eagles' goal with just 1:52 remaining in the overtime. Prediger made seven of her 10 saves in the two overtime periods, including two nifty left-pad saves that for the moment staved off a BC victory.
In the Terriers' 6-1 victory over Massachusetts on Sept. 13, Prediger was not called upon to make a save. She tallied four stops in the Terriers' 3-1 loss at Brown on Sept. 14.
Prediger has played every minute for the Terriers this season, posting a 1.46 goals against average, good for second best in America East, and .680 save percentage.
The Terriers (3-2, 0-0 America East) next hosts Yale University on Sunday, Sept. 21. Game time at MIT's Jack Barry Field is 1 p.m.
