HANOVER, N. H. - Senior forward Celeste Hubbard (Detroit, Mich. / University Liggett) scored one goal and assisted on another, leading Boston University to a 2-1 field hockey victory at Dartmouth on Saturday, Sept. 27.
B. U. (5-3, 0-1 America East) jumped on the board first, scoring less than a minute into the game on a Hubbard goal 52 seconds into the first half.
Dartmouth (0-5) responded when junior Keppy Storer scored on a pass from junior Ashley Choren with 19:34 to play in the first half.
The Terriers took the lead for good when senior forward Dalinda Banuelos (Escondido, Calif. / San Pasqual) made the score 2-1 on a pass from Hubbard with 30:15 left to play. B. U. held off the Big Green the rest of the way for the victory.
Dartmouth had a chance to tie the game in the final 20 seconds, moving the ball into the circle, but the Terriers cleared the ball and ended the Dartmouth threat.
Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Erin Prediger (Telford, Pa. / Souderton Area) made four saves in recording her fifth victory of the season. Dartmouth's senior goalkeeper Lauren Balukjian made seven stops in defeat.
The Terriers were credited for 12 shots to Dartmouth's six, and held a 14-7 advantage in penalty corners.
B. U. returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 1 when they welcome the University at Albany Great Danes to Jack Barry Field for a 7 p.m. game.
