Terriers Best Louisville To Start Season On High Note

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Redshirt freshman Erin Calamari (Chester, Conn. / Valley Regional) scored the game-winning goal in overtime to hand the Boston University field hockey team a 2-1 win at Louisville on Saturday, Sept. 6. It was the season-opening game for the Terriers.
Louisville (1-2) opened the game with a goal from senior Olivia Metzler with 4:01 left in the first half. The Cardinals took a 1-0 advantage into the half.
B. U. (1-0) tied the score 14:44 into the second half, as junior back Adrienne Scibilia (Ringoes, N. J. / Hunterdon Central Regional) scored on an assist from senior forward Lindsey Domers (Voorhees, N. J. / Eastern).
The Cardinals had a chance to win the game in the final minutes of regulation, but could not capitalize as B. U. redshirt freshman goalkeeper Erin Prediger (Telford, Pa. / Souderton Area) made a crucial save to keep the game tied and send it into overtime.
Domers served up the assist on Calamari's game-winner 4:46 into the first overtime period. It was Calamari's first career goal and points.
Prediger, making her debut for the Terriers, played all 74:46 and made three saves while giving up one goal.
The game was played mostly in the midfield. Louisville had only four penalty corner chances, while B. U. had just two.
B. U. was credited with seven shots on goal, while the Cardinals had six. Each goalkeeper had three saves.
Junior midfielder Erin Burke-Webster (Rochester, N. Y. / Brighton) led the Terriers with three shots.
The Terriers next play in Louisville, Ky. on Sunday, Sept. 7 in a neutral-site game against Saint Louis University (0-4). Game time is 2:30 p.m.
