Terrier Field Hockey Shuts Out Yale, 2-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass - Boston University scored a pair of goals off penalty corners midway through the first half and went on to shut out Yale University, 2-0, in non-conference field hockey action at Jack Barry Field in Cambridge, Mass. on Sunday, Oct. 17.
The Terriers, winners of four of their last five games, improve to 9-5, while Yale falls to 5-7. It was the Terriers fourth win over the Bulldogs in the last four years. They shutout back-to-back opponents for the first time this season. They defeated UMBC, 3-0, on Oct. 15.
Seniors Jen Joyce (Lititz, Pa.) and Lauren Vendetti (Ashland, Mass.), along with junior Colleen McClay (Mahopac, N.Y.), combined on both penalty-corner goals. Joyce scored the first goal with 8:44 remaining in the first half with Vendetti and McClay assisting on the score. Vendetti, with McClay and Joyce assisting, scored the second goal, 1:41 later.
B.U. enjoyed 10-5 advantages in shots in both halves, and had a 13-4 edge in penalty corners in the game.
Yale goalkeeper Kate Crandall was forced to make nine saves, while her counterpart, Terrier sophomore Erin Prediger (Telford, Pa.) was credited with five stops. It was Prediger's fourth shutout of the season, raising her career total to six.
Joyce led all players with six shots. Yale's Catherine Lindroth had a team-high four shots.
B.U. returns to America East action on Friday, Oct. 22, when they play the University at Albany in Schenectady, N.Y. Game time is 1 p.m.
