BOSTON - Boston University women's lacrosse coach Liza Shoemaker announced that seven student-athletes have committed during the early signing period to play for the Terriers beginning in the 2006 season.
"I am extremely excited about this recruiting class," said Shoemaker. "Our current juniors and seniors are the foundation of our team, and these recruits will have big shoes to fill. But I am completely confident that they are capable of having excellent collegiate careers.
"This class also demonstrates the hard work that assistant coach Liz Robertshaw put in to hosting clinics and working camps all over the East Coast."
Charlotte Ahearn, a defender from the St. Paul's School for Girls in Baltimore, Md., led her school to the SPSG League Championship and a 16-1-1 record as a junior. Ahearn hails from the same school as current Terrier Danica Strutt ('06) and former Terrier Tiffany Mullan ('02). Last season, St. Paul's earned the top ranking among Maryland private schools according to Laxpower.com. The four-year varsity letterwinner, Ahearn also plays club lacrosse for the North Baltimore County team. A well-rounded student-athlete, Ahearn has appeared in a drama production each year during her high school career. Ahearn chose B.U. over Northwestern and Cal-Berkeley.
Sarah Dalton, a midfielder from the Taft School in Watertown, Conn., earned All-American and All-State honors after guiding Middlebury Union High School in Middlebury, Vt., in to a perfect 17-0 record as a senior in 2004. Currently spending a post-graduate year at Taft, Dalton began her scholastic playing career at Middlebury Union, the same school that produced current Terrier Alyssa Trudel ('05). A two-time Team MVP at Middlebury Union, Dalton plays club lacrosse for the Green Mountain Girls and the Connecticut Lacrosse Futures. A three-sport varsity letterwinner, Dalton was a First Team All-State selection in ice hockey and an All-County pick in soccer.
Classmates Alison Jacobs and Kelly Munroe led Westwood High School in Westwood, Mass., to a 70-3 overall record and back-to-back appearances in the State championship game in three varsity seasons.
Jacobs, a two-time gold medalist at the Bay State Games, was twice selected to the Lower New England Team to participate in the U.S. National Tournament. As a member of the Mass Elite Club Team, the midfielder earned All-Galaxy League honors in 2003 and 2004. A standout ice hockey player, Jacobs led the Assabet Valley girls hockey team to the USA Hockey National Championship and Massachusetts State title in 2003. A four-year honor roll student, Jacobs chose B.U. over Northwestern and James Madison.
Munroe was a key component of Westwood's defense that allowed just 4.96 goals per game during the 2004 season. An All-Galaxy selection for the Mass Elite Club Team, Munroe was a member of the Lower New England Team 2 at the 2004 U.S. National Tournament. She also played varsity soccer and basketball for Westwood, captaining the soccer team as a senior in 2004. A member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, Munroe chose B.U. over Dartmouth and Georgetown.
Brennan Killeen has been the leading scorer for the past two seasons at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va. A three-year starter, Killeen earned First Team ISL honors as a junior in 2004. During the summer of 2004, Killeen's club team, M&D, won titles at the National Draw, the Vail Shootout, and the Galaxy Championships. For her efforts, Killeen was an All-Galaxy league selection. A three-sport athlete, Killeen played four years of varsity field hockey and was a two-time letterwinner on the track team. She chose B.U. over Brown.
Goalkeeper Rachel Klein hails from Roland Park Country Day School in Baltimore, Md., the same school that produced Terrier senior goalkeeper Anne Sheridan ('05).
