Miller Paces Terrier Attack In 11-6 Win Over Albany

Albany, N.Y. - Sophomore attacker Mary Beth Miller (Berlin, NJ) led all scorers with three goals and two assists as the Boston University women's lacrosse team defeated Albany, 11-6, on Friday, April 30.
With the victory, the Terriers (7-9, 4-1) ensured themselves one of the top three seeds at next weekend's America East Championship. UMBC (5-9, 4-1) plays at New Hampshire (12-4, 5-0) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. to determine which of the top three teams will earn the number-one seed and host the tournament. Earlier this season, B.U. defeated UMBC and lost to UNH.
Sophomore defender Danica Strutt (Pheonix, MD) and Miller scored back-to-back goals as B.U. took a 2-0 lead 3:06 into the game.
Albany's Kate Fontana scored her first goal of the game to cut the deficit to 2-1 at 25:49. The Terriers answered with four goals over the next eight minutes, including a pair from Miller.
The two teams traded goals for the remainder of the half and B.U. entered the break leading 7-3.
B.U. netted three of the first four goals in the second half to put the game out of reach.
Along with Miller, three other Terriers had multiple-point efforts. Sophomore midfielder Lindsay Lewis (Glenelg, MD) had two goals and two assists while sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Cuneo (Berlin, NJ) had a pair of goals. Freshman attacker Noelle Hopper (Ellicott City, MD) had two assists.
B.U. also had single-goal scores from seniors Sasha Lang (Cornish, NH), Hannah Cross (Concord, MA), Rachel Olanoff (Rutland, VT), and Strutt.
Fontana led the Great Danes with two goals and an assist.
Junior goalkeeper Anne Sheridan (Baltimore, MD) earned the victory, making five saves while allowing four goals in the first 47:11 of action. Senior Lauren Beatty (Plainview, NY) relieved Sheridan for the final 12:49, making three saves while allowing two goals.
Albany goalkeeper Jen Daly made a game-high 20 saves.
B.U. closes out its regular-season with a game at Binghamton on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
