BOSTON - Liz Robertshaw, a four-year starting defenseman at George Mason University from 1994-98, will join the Boston University women's lacrosse staff as an assistant coach, Terrier head coach Liza Shoemaker announced today (Thursday, July 10).
Robertshaw had served as an assistant coach at Brown University from 2000-03. She began her coaching career at her alma mater, working as an assistant coach from 1998-1999.
"I'm really excited about the experience Liz brings to our program," said Shoemaker. "She was one of the most sought after assistants in the country, and I'm very glad she chose to come to B.U."
Robertshaw earned USLWA All-American recognition as a senior in 1998, becoming the first George Mason women's lacrosse player to earn All-American distinction. During her career, Robertshaw totaled a program-record 90 caused turnovers while starting a program-record 65 consecutive games. A three-time First Team All-Conference selection, Robertshaw was an NCAA Woman of the Year Regional Nominee in 1998.
Robertshaw received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from George Mason in 1999.
The Terriers return nine starters and 21 letterwinners from the 2003 squad that compiled a 14-5 mark and captured its third America East title in four years.
