Women???s Tennis Competes in Regional Championships

BOSTON ??? Four members of the Boston University women???s tennis team competed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Eastern Championships at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., from Oct. 21-23. Danielle Abraham (Waukesha, Wis.), Laura Ahmes (Sarasota, Fla.), Erin Katims (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Gina Sabatino (Waltham, Mass.) represented BU at the tournament that included more than 50 NCAA Division I schools.
In singles play, Ahmes led the Terriers with wins over Tina Hoang of Quinnipiac (7-6 (6), 6-1) and Alina Sullivan of Boston College (3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (3)), before falling to Amanda Saiontz of Brown University (3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (6)).
Abraham fell to Jennifer Dent of Maryland (7-6 (4), 6-4), Caroline Stanislawski of Penn defeated Katims (0-6, 6-4, 6-0) and Sabatino dropped the match to Andrea Novaceanu of SUNY Buffalo (6-4, 6-2)
In doubles play, the Sabatino and Katims defeated Oliva Fleszar and Lauren Howard of the New Hampshire (8-1), before falling to Dasha Cherkasov and Lana Krasnapolsky of BC (8-3).
The Terriers head to Hanover, N.H., on Saturday, Oct. 29, for the Dartmouth Invitational.
