Terriers Blanked By Virginia Commonwealth In Virginia Finale

RICHMOND, VA-The Terrier women's tennis team closed out its brief two-match visit to Virginia with a 7-0 loss to nationally ranked Virginia Commonwealth on Monday, March 21. On Sunday, the Terriers dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Richmond as the two losses left the Terriers with a 7-5 record.
VCU dominated play beginning with doubles where they won all three matches.
At number one, Marianna Yeferova and Olga Borisova defeated the Terriers' Erin Katims and Cheri Lapane, 8-2, while B.U.'s tandem of Monica Shepherd and Gina Sabatino lost to Cristina Arribas and Alexa Korotkevich, 8-3, at number two doubles. Finally, at number three, Aimee Charest and Katarina Draganova lost, 8-1, to Vera Petrashevich and Viktoria Konstantinova.
VCU swept all six singles matches in straight sets.
At number one, Sabatino lost, 2-6, 1-6, to Borisova and at number two, Katims was defeated by Yuferova, 1-6, 2-6. Charest dropped her number three singles match to Arribas, 2-6, 1-6, while Draganova lost to Konstantinova by identical 2-6, 2-6 scores at number four. The same 6-2, 6-2 scores also appeared at numbers five and six singles where Petrashevitch bested Shepherd and Korotkevich defeated Lapane, respectively.
