Women's Tennis Falls To Boston College, 4-3

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In a tight contest, the Boston University women's tennis team lost to Boston College, 4-3 at the Harvard University outdoor courts on Wednesday, April 13. The Terriers and Eagles each won three singles matches, but Boston College took two of three doubles matches for the deciding point.
The Terriers and Eagles traded wins in the first four singles matches. Junior Laura Ahmes (East Sarasota, Fla.) fell to Silvia Szegede, 6-3, 6-1 at first singles while freshman Gina Sabatino Waltham, Mass.) defeated Nida Wasem, 6-3, 6-3 at second singles. Morgan Landes was able to get past Erin Katims (Boca Raton, Fla.), 6-3, 6-1.
At fourth singles, Aimee Charest (Somerset, Mass.) took the opening set, 7-6, before Lindsey Nash answered in the second, 7-5. Charest came out on top in the tie-breaker however, 10-5.
Katarina Draganova (Sofia, Bulgaria) earned another point for the Terriers at no. 5 singles, defeating Gia Nafarrere, 6-1, 6-1. Amy Molden knotted the singles matches at 3-3 however with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Monica Shepherd (Austin, Tex.).
In the doubles matches, the team Ahmes and Katims fell to Wassem and Nafarrere, 8-3 at first doubles, while at third doubles Charest and Draganova lost a tough 8-6 decision to Landes and Caitlin Arnould. The second doubles match between Shepherd/Sabatino and Szegede/Nash defaulted at 7-7.
The Terriers will next face Quinnipiac at home on Saturday, April 16. Match time is 12 pm.
