Lewis, Hauser Power No. 6 Terriers In Win Over Seawolves

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Junior attacker Lindsay Lewis (Glenelg, MD) and freshman attacker Jenny Hauser (Alexandria, VA) combined to score 11 goals as sixth-ranked Boston University defeated America East rival Stony Brook, 17-8, on Saturday, April 23.
With the victory, the Terriers (13-1, 5-0) secure one of the top two seeds at the 2005 America East Championship on May 5-7. B.U. will take on New Hampshire (8-6, 3-0) for the regular-season title and right to host the tournament in Durham on May 1. But before the match-up with the Wildcats, B.U. will host No. 4 Dartmouth (13-0, 7-0) in a battle for regional bragging rights on Wednesday, April 28, at 4:00 p.m.
Lewis scored three of B.U.'s first six goals as the Terriers' built a 6-1 advantage at 17:22 in the first half. Hauser tallied a pair of goals over the final 53 seconds of the first half as B.U. held a 9-2 lead at the break.
Junior attacker Mary Beth Miller (Berlin, NJ) and Hauser scored the first two goals of the second half as the Terriers' took their largest lead of the game, 11-2, at 27:10. Stony Brook's Amy Taylor netted three second-half goals to cut the deficit to 14-7 at 14:57 but B.U. scored three of the game's final four goals to earn the conference victory.
Lewis tallied a game-high eight points off five goals and three assists. Hauser scored a game-high six goals and had an assist, raising her team-leading point total to 54.
Miller contributed one goal and three assists. Freshman midfielder Lauren Morton (Glenside, PA) scored a pair of goals and senior midfielder Alyssa Trudel (Shoreham, VT) had a goal and an assist. Senior attacker Kelly Trahon (Needham, MA) and junior midfielder Kaitlyn Cuneo (Marlton, NJ) each had single-goal efforts.
Amy Taylor led the Seawolves (8-6, 2-3) with three goals and an assist. Carlee Buck, who entered the game leading America East in scoring, was held to two points off one goal and one assist.
Senior goalkeeper Anne Sheridan (Baltimore, MD) played the first half, making three saves while allowing two goals. Freshman Jenna Golden (Suffern, NY) relieved Sheridan in the second half, stopping three shots and allowing six goals.
Stony Brook goalkeeper Gina DeNezzo made nine saves and allowed 14 goals in the first 40:41 of play. Jen Sandtorv played the final 19:19, collecting three saves while allowing three goals.
