BOSTON - For the second straight week, two Boston University women's lacrosse players have been honored by the America East, as sophomore Jenny Hauser was named Player of the Week and senior tri-captain Danica Strutt was named Defensive Player of the Week, as was announced by the conference office on Monday.
The duo helped the Terriers win both of their contests on the week to improve to 10-3 overall and 2-1 in league play. Hauser earned Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, while Strutt collected the first conference weekly honor of her career.
Hauser turned a pair of impressive offensive performances, scoring a combined 12 goals on just 13 shots to reach the 50-goal mark for the second straight year. The sophomore scored on all six of her shots in a 20-2 rout at Binghamton while also adding an assist, three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. On Saturday, Hauser helped the Terriers stretch their home win streak to 20 games with an eight-point outing in a 19-8 victory over Oregon. The attacker had three goals in each half against the Ducks and added two assists and a season-high three draw controls.
Strutt helped BU hold its two opponents to a combined 10 goals on the week, posting totals of eight ground balls and seven caused turnovers. The senior caused four turnovers and snagged four ground balls in the home victory over Oregon on Saturday after recording three caused turnovers and four ground balls in the road triumph at Binghamton on Wednesday. Strutt has forced a team-best 17 turnovers this season.
The Terriers, winners of four straight and eight of their past nine, will return to action on Wednesday, April 19, when they welcome Vermont to Nickerson Field for an America East contest beginning at 4 p.m.
