Full Bracket | Terriers Claim AE Title
BOSTON - The ninth-ranked Boston University women's lacrosse team will meet a familiar foe when it makes its second consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament. The Terriers (15-4) will visit No. 7-seed Dartmouth (11-5) on Sunday, May 14, in a game that will take place just over two weeks after the Terriers dropped an 11-5 road decision to the Big Green. Game time for Sunday's first-round match-up will be 1 p.m.
BU is making consecutive appearances in the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history, as the Terriers also appeared in the national bracket in 2000, 2003 and 2005.
The BU-Dartmouth match-up is one of five first-round contests that are rematches from the regular-season. The others include No. 2-seeded Virginia hosting Princeton, No. 4-seeded Northwestern taking on Stanford, No. 5-seeded North Carolina playing host to conference rival Maryland and sixth-seeded Notre Dame facing Cornell.
The three other first-round contests are top-seeded Duke against Holy Cross, third-seeded Georgetown at Monmouth and James Madison, the No. 8 seed, taking on Richmond.
Dartmouth, a 2005 NCAA semifinalist, is coming off a tough 6-4 home loss to Duke, just its second setback on the turf at Scully-Fahey Field this season. The Big Green is 4-3 against teams in the tournament field, including wins against James Madison, Stanford and Princeton.
BU faced three of the tournament's 16 teams during the regular season, earning wins over No. 3 Georgetown and No. 5 North Carolina before the loss to Dartmouth.
If the Terriers avenge their loss to Dartmouth, they will take on the winner of the Virginia/Princeton contest on Saturday, May 20.
Boston University will serve as host for the NCAA semifinals and championship on May 26 and 28 at Nickerson Field. For tickets or more information, please click here.
