Erwin Earns Second Straight AE Player of the Week Accolades
September 25, 2006 | Women's Soccer
BOSTON – For the second consecutive week senior co-captain Lauren Erwin (Orange, Conn.) has earned America East Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office. Erwin tallied BU’s game-winning goal against Stony Brook, lifting the Terriers to their 10th consecutive win in AE openers.
Erwin’s timely strike came at 66:33, when sophomore Marisha Schumacher-Hodge’s (Pittsburgh, Pa.) corner kick was redirected by freshman Farrell McClernon (Westchester, Pa.) and headed for the net when a Stony Brook defender played tightly at the post and blocked the shot. Erwin positioned herself in the right place for when the rebound bounced out to her she was able to one-time it in. The goal was Erwin’s third of the season.
Erwin and the Terriers welcome Yale University to Nickerson Field tonight at 7 p.m.
