BOSTON - The three-time defending America East champion Boston University lacrosse team has released its full schedule for 2008, as announced by head coach Liz Robertshaw. The Terriers open a tough regular-season slate at Massachusetts on Wednesday, Feb. 27, and the rest of the schedule features contests against three squads that qualified for last year's NCAA tournament, including three-time defending national champion Northwestern.
The Terriers will play six contests at home, beginning with George Mason on Saturday, March 15. BU will also host games against Boston College, Yale, Vermont, Stony Brook and New Hampshire.
BU's annual spring trip will kick off with a trip to Evanston, Ill, to take on Northwestern on Sunday, March 9. Three days later, the Terriers will visit Vanderbilt, a team that was ranked 10th in last year's final IWLCA poll and earned a bid to the NCAA tournament.
The end of spring break will feature the home opener against George Mason, followed by another non-conference home tilt against Yale on Wednesday, March 19.
The team will make another long trip when it travels across the country to face Stanford on Sunday, April 9. Last year, the Terriers hosted the Cardinal and played to a 12-9 victory in regular-season finale.
BU opens its America East schedule hosting Vermont on March 29, followed by home games against Stony Brook (April 9) and New Hampshire (April 12). The Terriers will visit Binghamton (March 21), Albany (March 22) and UMBC (April 19) for conference away games.
Boston College will visit Nickerson Field on Wednesday, March 26, in the Terriers' final non-conference home game. Road games against local rivals Brown and Harvard will round out the team's non-league competition, in addition to the regular-season finale at Dartmouth on April 23.
The Terriers, who are looking to advance to the NCAA tournament for the fourth consecutive year, compiled a 13-6 record last season on the way to their third straight America East Championship.
