BOSTON - Sophomore Sarah Dalton (Cornwall, Vt.) has been named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Association/US Lacrosse All-America Third Team, as announced on Wednesday. The standout attacker becomes just the fourth player in Boston University history to earn All-America status as a sophomore.
Dalton, who joined seniors Angie Martin and Noelle Hopper on the IWLCA Northeast All-Region First Team, tallied 59 points this season and emerged as the conference’s top goal scorer with 52 — the fifth highest single-season total in program history. A first-team all-conference pick, Dalton broke the school record for draw controls in a season with 56 and was one of only six Division I players to amass at least 50 goals and 50 draw controls this spring.
The lone America East representative on this year’s All-America teams, Dalton has recorded a combined 98 points in her first two seasons with the Terriers.
The three former BU players who also earned All-America honors as sophomores were Kristin Abruzesse (2000 - Second Team), Alyssa Trudel (2003 - Second Team) and Jenny Hauser (2006 - Second Team). The Terriers have had at least one player earn All-America recognition in eight of the last nine years.
