After recording three goals during the Terriers' two-win weekend, junior Nikki Lloyd of the Boston University field hockey team has been named the America East Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. The forward paced the Terriers in victories over No. 19 Providence and Fairfield.
Lloyd provided all the scoring in BU's 2-0 victory over the Friars on Sunday, scoring an unassisted goal in each half to help the Terriers earn their second win over a ranked team this season.
The junior striker also kick-started the Terriers' comeback victory against Fairfield on Saturday, as the Stags took an early 2-0 lead before Lloyd got BU on the board with a goal in the 45th minute. The Terriers went on to a 3-2 win to move into sole possession of first place in the America East standings.
Lloyd leads BU in both goals (6) and points (12) this season. She is the second Terrier to earn the conference honor, joining sophomore goalkeeper Kim Kastuk.
