
Terriers Host Stony Brook in Final Regular-Season Home Contest

BOSTON - The Boston University women's soccer team (10-5-1, 5-0-0 AE) will host Stony Brook (8-6-0, 4-1-0 AE) in the final home game of the regular season at Nickerson Field on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Terriers enter the contest in first place in the America East standings, while the Seawolves sit in third. BU is riding a seven-game unbeaten streak and SBU is the winner of three straight contests.
The Terriers can clinch a share of the regular-season title, the top seed at the 2008 Women's Soccer Championship and home field advantage through the tourney with a win over Stony Brook and a New Hampshire win over Hartford on Sunday. It would be BU's sixth in nine years.
BU has won four consecutive games and nine of its last 12 contests. During the Terriers' seven-game unbeaten stretch, it has outscored its opponents, 14-3, and put an impressive 64 shots on goal. On the defensive end, BU has held opposing teams to just 17 strikes on frame and shut out five teams in seven games.
Overall this season, juniors Emily Pallotta and Farrell McClernon lead a very balanced offense with four goals apiece. The Terriers feature nine different goal scorers and 10 players who have recorded at least one point. Sophomore Janie Reilly has been solid in net with a 0.64 goals-against average and .828 save percentage.
For Stony Brook, Colleen McKenna is the team's leading offensive threat with five goals and one assist for 11 points and she followed closely by Trine Allenberg with four goals and two assists for 10 points. Marisa Viola and Amanda Hemme have each seen significant time in net, and Viola holds a 1.35 GAA and Hemme owns a 1.85 GAA.
Following Sunday's contest, the Terriers will take to the road for their final two regular-season games as they head to UMBC (Oct. 23) and Hartford (Oct. 26) to close out the America East slate.
