Women’s Soccer Opens Three-Game Road Trip at UAlbany on Sunday

BOSTON – The Boston University women's soccer team will travel to UAlbany for its first road game of the season on Sunday (Aug. 16) with opening kick set for 2 p.m. at the Bob Ford Field at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium.
Sunday's match opens a three-game road trip for the Terriers, where they will face Fairfield and UConn in addition to the Great Danes.

- BU opened the season on Thursday with a 1-0 loss to Northeastern at Nickerson Field.
- The Terriers outshot the Huskies 11-7 and led in shots on goal with nine compared to Northeastern's three.
- Senior Samantha Aronson led the team in shots with three while playing 66 minutes.
- Senior Helene Tyburczy, junior Bridgett Carr, sophomore Nina Tzouganatos and freshman Sam Ryan each played the full 90 minutes.
- Ryan and freshman Elle Ceres made their collegiate debuts.
- Carr recorded a pair of saves for the Terriers.
- UAlbany will open its season on Sunday with a home game against the Terriers before heading to Siena and CCSU for a two-game road stretch.
- Head coach Sade Ayinde enters her fifth season leading the Great Danes.
- The Great Danes return 16 student-athletes, including two of their three top goalscorers, senior Flo Bartholomai and sophomore Tamia Nelson. UAlbany has another outstanding returner in redshirt sophomore Claudia Volino, who finished the 2025 season ranked 21st in the nation in saves per game (5.88) and 23rd in the nation with 100 total saves.
- Four transfers and four freshmen have also joined the UAlbany roster.
- BU is undefeated in all-time series against UAlbany, winning 15 straight games dating back to their first meeting in 2001.
- The Terriers had its largest margin of victory, a 7-0 win, against the Great Danes on Oct. 16, 2004, at Nickerson Field.
- This marks the Terriers' first road game against the Great Danes in 15 years, with their last meeting at the Bob Ford Field resulting in a 2-0 victory on Sept. 25, 2011.
- The Terriers will continue their road stretch when traveling to face Fairfield next Thursday (Aug. 20) at 6 p.m.
