BOSTON - The Boston University field hockey team (7-8) will be in search of its eighth win of the season on Wednesday (Oct. 22) when it welcomes No. 6 Connecticut (13-1) to Jack Barry Field for a non-conference match at 3 p.m.
The Terriers are looking to get back in the win column following a 2-1 loss to Maine on Saturday, while the Huskies are coming off a 1-0 road win over then-No. 1 Syracuse - the Orange's first loss of the season.
UConn has won their last four games since suffering its lone loss of the season - a 3-1 setback at then-No. 11 Louisville on Sept. 27. Senior Lauren Aird leads the Huskies in points (28) and goals (11), while classmate Lindsey Leck is second in points with 21 on seven goals and seven assists.
For their efforts against the Orange, the Huskies swept the Big East weekly awards on Monday, as sophomore Melissa Gonzalez was tabbed Offensive Player of the Week for scoring the game's lone goal and junior goalkeeper Andrea Mainiero was chosen Defensive Player of the Week following her six-save shutout.
The Terriers, who have won four of their last six games, have two non-conference tilts - both at home - and two America East contests - both on the road - left in their regular season.
Junior Nikki Lloyd leads BU in scoring with 13 points on the strength of six goals, while freshman Giovanna Monaco has added eight points on four tallies. Sophomore goalkeeper Kim Kastuk has started all 15 games and boasts a 1.83 goals against average.
BU has won seven of its 29 meetings with UConn, but the Huskies have come out on top in each of the last seven meetings, including a 2-1 contest in last year's NCAA quarterfinals.
