Lacrosse Announces 2009 Schedule

BOSTON - The 2009 schedule for the defending America East champion Boston University lacrosse team has been announced by head coach Liz Robertshaw. The regular-season slate includes eight home games at Nickerson Field, three meetings with teams that made last season's NCAA tournament field and six games against opponents ranked in the final IWLCA poll of 2008.
The Terriers open the season at home, hosting in-state rival Massachusetts on Feb. 25. After a trip to Virginia to face William & Mary on Feb. 28, BU is back home to host Brown (March 4) and NCAA tournament participant Vanderbilt (March 7).
Three straight road games against three teams in the last season's final poll follow, with the Terriers visiting Penn, the team that ended BU's 2008 season in the NCAA tournament, on March 11, George Mason, Robertshaw's alma mater, on March 14 and Yale on March 18.
Cross-town rival Harvard visits Nickerson Field on March 21 and Albany is in town to open up the America East slate on March 28.
A season-long four-game road swing follows, beginning with a rematch of last season's America East championship game with New Hampshire on April 1 in Durham, N.H. Conference games at Stony Brook (April 4) and Vermont (April 11) sandwich a trip up Commonwealth Avenue to face Boston College on April 8.
The Terriers close the regular season with a three-game homestand, wrapping up the conference slate against UMBC (April 15) and Binghamton (April 18) before a visit from Dartmouth to close the regular season on April 22.
The top four seeds from the seven-team league will qualify for the America East Women's Lacrosse Championship, to be held at the site of the highest seed on April 24 & 26.
