The Boston University field hockey team will look to even its record and knock off a top-10 team for the second consecutive week when it visits No. 9 Duke (7-3) on Sunday. Game time is set for 1 p.m. The Terriers (5-6) have won their last two contests, including a 3-2 come-from-behind win over New Hampshire on Friday in their America East opener.
Duke is coming off a 5-0 ACC victory over Boston College on Saturday, as sophomore Susan Ferger and freshman Megan Deakins tallied two goals apiece. Ferger has posted team highs in goals (6) and points (13) through 10 games.
The Blue Devils will be closing out a six-game homestand on Sunday and have won four of their five games during the stretch, with a 2-1 setback to rival North Carolina being the only blemish.
BU and Duke have met on six occasions - including each of past two seasons - with the Blue Devils holding a 4-2 edge. Last season in a neutral-site match at Boston College, Duke posted a 3-2 overtime victory for their fourth straight win in the series.
Since suffering a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Old Dominion on Sept. 27, the Terriers have posted a pair of 3-2 victories, including a triumph over No. 8 Virginia in penalty strokes last Sunday. On Friday at UNH, BU was dealt an early two-goal deficit, but rallied with three unanswered goals, including two from freshman Giovanna Monaco.
Monaco and junior Nikki Lloyd share the team lead in both goals (3) and points (6) and senior Sheena Berry also has six points on the season with two goals and two assists.
