DURHAM, N.C. - The Boston University field hockey team came up short in its bid for a third straight win on Sunday afternoon, falling 2-0 to No. 9 Duke at Williams Field. Sophomore goalkeeper Kim Kastuk made eight saves for the Terriers, who were shut out on the road for the first time in over a year. BU moves to 5-7 on the year, while Duke improves to 8-3.
The Blue Devils got a goal from junior Amie Survilla in each half and only allowed the Terriers to record two shots on goal.
The first goal came at the 7:50 mark, as senior Laura Suchoski sent a pass to the middle of the circle, where Survilla sent home a shot to the bottom-left corner.
After taking a 1-0 lead into the half, the Blue Devils added another goal in the opening seconds of the 41st minute when Suchoski set up another tally by Survilla, this time from the left side.
Duke outshot BU, 19-5, and held an 8-0 advantage in penalty corners. Samantha Nelson made two saves in goal for the Blue Devils.
The Terriers will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 11, when they play host to Fairfield for an America East contest. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
