BOSTON - Three Boston University lacrosse players were named to the pool of players from which the 2008-09 United States women's World Cup team will be selected, US Lacrosse announced on Sunday after a weekend of tryouts in Baltimore.
Rising seniors Sarah Dalton and Kelly Munroe and Lindsay Lewis ('06) are among a group of 49 players who will be divided into Elite and Developmental teams in October, with the top players going on to make up Team USA at the 2009 International Women's Lacrosse Association World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic.
Dalton, a first-team All-America honoree, helped power the Terriers' offense to impressive levels last season, leading America East with 84 points, including 71 goals.
Munroe was a stalwart on defense for BU, picking up first-team all-region honors along with the Most Outstanding Player award at the America East Championship.
Lewis put together a spectacular career for the Terriers from 2003-06, ranking fourth all-time in career points with 232 and first with 187 career goals. Lewis was a member of the Developmental Team last season.
