BOSTON - Senior Sarah Dalton of the Boston University lacrosse team has picked up a pair of postseason accolades, earning a spot on the WomensLacrosse.com All-American First Team and the LaxPower Fan Award for best women's senior attack. Classmate Kelly Munroe was selected to the WomensLacrosse.com All-American Third Team as well.
The LaxPower Fan Awards, in their third season, were voted on by fans from a group of five finalists selected by the staff of LaxPower.com.
Dalton led the nation with 91 goals this season, fifth-most in NCAA history, to shatter her own previous BU record of 71 goals in a single season. She finished with 102 points to tie that program record as well. The Cornwall, Vt., native, a member of the US Lacrosse Developmental Team, was a unanimous selection for her second straight America East Player of the Year award and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the America East Championship after scoring a tournament-record 11 goals.
Munroe has been the backbone of the Terriers' defense, starting every game for the past three seasons. She tallied 23 ground balls, 24 draw controls and 18 caused turnovers in her senior campaign. A native of Westwood, Mass., and a member of the US Lacrosse Developmental Team, Munroe was named to the America East All-Conference First Team for the second straight season.
Dalton and Munroe were both captains of the Terriers this season, leading the squad to a 15-4 record and its fifth straight America East Championship after running the table in the regular-season league slate.
