BOSTON - All-American defender Kelly Munroe, who just wrapped up a stellar four-year career with the Boston University lacrosse team, has been selected to play in the 2009 IWLCA/Under Armour Division I North-South Senior All-Star Game, while Terriers head coach Liz Robertshaw will be on the sidelines leading the North team.
The event, which includes all-star games for all three NCAA divisions, will take place at 2 p.m. on June 13 in Downingtown, Pa., as part of the Champions' Cup tournament. Munroe is one of 21 players selected to the North team that Robertshaw will lead against the South team coached by Cathy Reese of Maryland.
Munroe was the backbone of the Terriers' defense, earning a third-team All-American and first-team All-Region selection this season, as well as a spot on the America East Championship All-Tournament Team. The Westwood, Mass., native tallied 23 ground balls, 24 draw controls and 18 caused turnovers in her senior campaign and was a member of the US Lacrosse Developmental Team last year.
Robertshaw was named the America East Coach of the Year after leading the Terriers to a 15-4 record and the 12th ranking in the final IWLCA national poll of the season. In three seasons at the helm at BU, she has amassed an impressive record of 46-13 (.780), winning the America East Championship every season and advancing to the NCAA quarterfinals in 2008.
