BOSTON- Former Boston University women's lacrosse standout Sarah Dalton has accepted a position as assistant coach for the William and Mary women's lacrosse program.
A record-breaking attacker during her collegiate years, Dalton will work primarily with the Tribe's attack but will also serve as the team's travel coordinator and alumnae coordinator in addition to taking on an administrative role in organizing camps and clinics throughout the year.
"I am thrilled to welcome another Terrier alum into collegiate coaching, and I think it speaks to the support of the BU athletics department for giving Sarah an experience that she wants to pass along to others," said BU women's lacrosse head coach Liz Robertshaw.
"Sarah is a true student and ambassador of the game and I know that she'll bring her passion for the sport to this profession which will make a huge impact on student-athletes in the years to come."
Dalton capped off a stellar career by shattering her own school record for goals in a season with 91 as a senior captain in 2009, while setting the school career goals and points marks with 247 and 284, respectively. The three-time Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America selection led the Terriers to NCAA tournament berths in all four of her playing years and spearheaded her squad to four straight America East Conference championships. Other accolades include All-Region and All-Conference team nods in her final three seasons and being named conference Player of the Year as a junior and senior.
In 2009, Dalton was honored with the BU Terrier Pride Award and was named the Female Athlete of the Year for the State of Vermont. Dalton was also selected for the United States Lacrosse Developmental roster for the second straight year and will join the team on Oct. 11 in Alexandria,Va., for the fourth annual U.S. Lacrosse Stars and Stripes event.
Dalton is the second former BU All-America lacrosse player to assume as assistant position this offseason as Lindsay Lewis '06 was named the top assistant at George Washington after spending three seasons as an assistant with James Madison.
