
Cerda Earns National and America East Rookie Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - For the third straight week and the fourth time this season, freshman goalkeeper Valentina Cerda of the No. 19 Boston University field hockey team has been named the America East Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. She also was tabbed the womensfieldhockey.com Division I Rookie of the Week.
Cerda backstopped the Terriers to a pair of one-goal wins on the road, including a 2-1 victory at Maine on Sunday to keep BU tied for first in the conference standings. The Terriers also earned a 2-1 triumph at Dartmouth on Friday.
Over the two games, Cerda combined to make eight saves, including five against Maine. The Black Bears boast the nation's top scoring offense and they entered Sunday's contest on an 11-game win streak.
For the season, Cerda sports and impressive .849 save percentage and a 0.92 goals-against average. Her save percentage is good for second nationally while her goals-against average ranks sixth.
