The Boston University women's lacrosse team participated in the Catamount Classic on Saturday, Oct. 8, at Thayer Academy in Braintree, Mass. The tournament, organized by the University of Vermont, benefits the Dana Farber Institute in the fight against cancer.
BU was among eight Division I women's teams that participated in the event. The Terriers faced off against Brown, Siena, Holy Cross and Connecticut during the course of the day. Eight Division I men's squads also took part in the event. This was the first year that women's teams competed.
All proceeds were donated to men's and women's cancer research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Prior to 2011, the tournament has donated close to $100,000 to testicular cancer research.
The women's lacrosse team will scrimmage on Saturday at the Boston College Playday. The Terriers will play BC, Connecticut and Massachusetts, with the first game to begin at 9:30 a.m.
